Toxicology Department

Forensic Toxicology is a branch of Forensic Science that utilizes multiple science disciplines such as Toxicology, Analytical Chemistry and Pharmacology for the identification and quantification of poisons, drugs of abuse, pharmaceuticals and alcohol in biology samples to aid in medico legal investigation.

Samples Analysed are:

● Urine
● Vitreous Humor
● Kidney
● Liver
● Hair
● Tissues

Our analytical scope includes identification and quantitation of the following:
● Drugs of abuse
○ Amphetamines & Methamphetamine
○ Barbiturates
○ Cannabis
○ Cocaine
○ Gamma Hydroxybutyrate Acid (GHB)
○ Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)

○ Phencyclidine (PCP)


● Poisons
○ Ethylene and Propylene Gylcol
○ Gramaxone (Paraquat)
○ Rat Poison (Warfarin)

● Noxious Gases
